Law reform submissions

A key function of legal professional associations is to provide input to government and law reform bodies in relation to law reform initiatives, public inquiries and in the scruitiny of Bills.

Through engagement with government, legal professional associations can assist government to improve and refine laws for the benefit of the community.

The attached NZLS Law Reform Guidelines suggest ways to improve submission writing technique and set out how to avoid some of the traps and pitfalls of poor submission writing. While the Guidelines are targeted to NZLS Committees, the Guidelines are also  applicable for legal professional associations - or individual lawyers - seeking to establish or enhance their law reform submission process.
