PNG Supreme Court issues arrest warrent for acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General

Following the PNG Government's controversial move to suspend Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia, the Supreme Court has now ordered the arrests of Acting Prime Minister Beldon Namah and Attorney-General Dr Allan Marrat. 

Several allegations were made against Sir Salamo by the National Executive Council, including the mismanagement of court funds.

However, critics say the suspension was politically motivated to delay the pending decision of the Supreme Court in a case brought by the East Sepik Provincial Government and joined by ousted Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare against the legitimacy of the government of Prime Minister Mr Peter O'Neill. A decision in this case is expected on December 9.
